Ferret Vets in Colorado

(Ferret Vets in Colorado … I’m always happy to add sites which have been recommended by other ferret owners so if you have a good ferret vet who is not listed here, please let me know and I’ll put the details on this page … I reckon it’s great to have a list of vets we know are good so that if our ferrets ever get sick, we’ll feel comfortable in the knowledge that our pets will get the best treatment possible from a vet who knows what he’s doing!)

DISCLAIMER: The vets listed have either been recommended, or have advised me personally that they are happy to treat ferrets, or have mentioned that they treat ferrets, exotic pets &/or pocket pets on their website. However I have no firsthand knowledge of how experienced any of the vets are with ferrets.
It is up to you to make sure that you are happy with the treatment your ferret is getting from your vet. If you have any doubts at all, please think about getting a second opinion so that you know that your pet is getting the best possible treatment available.

  1. My partner and I recently moved to Colorado and found Stockton Pet Hospital as the only vet recommended in Lakewood on this list and had to take our ferret in for emergency eval due to lethargy and diarrhea. Unfortunately she now needs surgery, and despite having an overall good experience with staff I must insist that this agency be taken off this list because they do not carry catheters small enough for a ferret, therefore ensuring continued complications during surgery. I do not feel they should be recommended for ferret care until they have supplies appropriate for ferret care.

  2. Hi Jodie
So sorry to hear that your little one needs an operation and that Stockton Pet Hospital were not properly equipped for it 🙁
I decided to leave the listing on this page but added your comment because if someone has a sick ferret that might just need medication and not an operation, they might find this clinic good for their needs, especially if the staff are nice.
What did you have to do with your ferret? Did you find another vet who could operate on it? I hope all goes well and your ferret recovers fully.
I hunted around and found two more vets for Lakewood so while I hope you won’t need one again in a while, at least now you have a choice of who to go to.
I hope you’ll let me know if you find a really good ferret vet in your neck of the woods so that I can put that comment up 😀
Hugs to your sick baby from me and my guys down under.
    Cheers

  3. My husband and I recently moved to the Vail area in CO and have had no luck finding a vet close by. Does anyone know of any vets close to the Vail area? Thanks, much appreciated

  4. Briana, I haven’t been able to find a ferret vet in Vail but I did find this phone number which may – or may not – be helpful!

    http://avianexotic.veterinarynurseschoolnews.com/tag/exotic-animal-clinic-vail-co

I hope you’ll get some answers from them!
    Fingers crossed!

Wait! Wait! I found this … Mountain Mobile Veterinary Service.
One of the vets, Dr Liz Foster, has a ferret in her family so hopefully she will be able to held your ferret, if need be!

If it turns out that they are ferret vets, would you please let me know, Briana, so that I can add them to my Colorado vets page?
    Many thanks 🙂
    Cheers

  5. Thank you for putting this helpful list together! I’ve been having a difficult time finding vets that treat the more exotic small animals, including fish & ferrets.

http://www.tenakerpetcare.com/ (I believe they are in Aurora) seems like they focus mostly on cats and dogs – like most other vets – but I believe they do service birds, guinea pigs & ferrets too. That was the last time I talked to them, but their administration changes hands a lot so it could be different…

  6. Thanks so much for letting me know about Tenaker Pet Care. I’ve listed them on this page but also put your comment up so that people will check before taking their ferrets there!
I hope this list will help you in times of emergencies! Horrible to think of such things but, as we ferret owners know, we really need to have a good vet to take our babies to in times of strife!
Hugs to your guys from their new buddies down under 😀
    Cheers

  7. Hello! I just called every Vet on the list to try and find the best place for ferret vaccines in the springs and thought I would share my findings:
*Note, I was looking for pricing for the first distemper booster and rabies vaccines, and the initial exam if needed

Aspen View: $95 per ferret (They do NOT carry the distemper vaccine/booster)
Bear Creek Vet Care: They DO NOT carry vaccines for ferrets!
Bijou Animal Hospital: $65 per ferret for everything
Dublin Animal Hospital: $190 per ferret for everything (Specialists)
East Springs: $106 per ferret for everything
Mountain Shadows: $63 per ferret for everything
Pikes Peak Vet Clinic: 108.50 per ferret (Specialists)
Village Center Vet Care: $140 per ferret
Yorkshire Vet Hospital: $152 per ferret (They do NOT carry the distemper vaccine/booster)

    Hope this helps, everyone!

  8. Oops! I had a typo in my above post. I have 2 ferrets. Village Center Vet care is $140 for both of my ferrets, so total is $70 per ferret for everything.

  9. Thank you so much for that information, Seth!
I’ve added your list to the top of the page, as you might have seen, so that other ferret owners see it easily 🙂
I’ve also made the correction to the price charged by Village Center Vet.
Hugs to your dynamic duo from their new friends down under 😀
    Cheers
    ~Nona
