I am a very proud mom of 7 fur babies and am currently “pet sitting” 2 more that belong to my sister. The 7 I have now, I have because of my very first ferret (Naynay).

We left her and her brother Dresden with a pet sitter for a weekend while we went to the beach for the Fourth of July. we left them with very specific instructions not to let our furries out on the balcony because they do not pay attention to what they are doing and could fall. Our sitters had 2 ferrets of their own so we thought we could trust them.

We came back from our mini vacation to find out that our warnings and instructions had been ignored. Our furries fell 6 stories down after being let onto the balcony so that they could bleach their floors. Naynay and Dresden inspired me to open a no kill animal shelter.

I am still working on it, but in the meantime I’ve been taking in ferrets from people who can’t keep them due to a move or divorce or anything really. Our current babies are: Rollo and Millow (my sister’s furries), Yo and Jazzy, Bear and Lilly (we took from a couple who said that they had been left on the side of the road in the sun in their cage all alone), Sparrow, Boo, and Ya (her sister Cindy suffered from recurring prolapses and passed in October).

My husband and I love our furries and are determined to keep the tragedy that happened to us from happening to others.

I think you’re doing the right thing taking in all of those ferrets. They should have good homes. Do you baby sit ferrets? I have one and I would never leave her alone because my puppy Paisley tries to attack her through the cage. Do you know how I could fix that problem?

I am so sorry to hear about your Naynay and Dresden but I think it’s marvellous that you turned a terrible thing into such a positive outcome with your pet sitting.

It must be so reassuring for the people who leave their little ones in your charge to know that they’ll be well looked after so good on you! You and your husband have done a wonderful thing for ferrets and for their owners 😀
