Ferret Vets in Maryland

(Ferret Vets in Maryland – I’m always happy to add sites which have been recommended by other ferret owners so if you have a good ferret vet who is not listed here, please let me know and I’ll put the details on this page … I reckon it’s great to have a list of vets we know are good so that if our ferrets ever get sick, we’ll feel comfortable in the knowledge that our pets will get the best treatment possible from a vet who knows what he’s doing!)

DISCLAIMER: The vets listed have either been recommended, or have advised me personally that they are happy to treat ferrets, or have mentioned that they treat ferrets, exotic pets &/or pocket pets on their website. However I have no firsthand knowledge of how experienced any of the vets are with ferrets.
It is up to you to make sure that you are happy with the treatment your ferret is getting from your vet. If you have any doubts at all, please think about getting a second opinion so that you know that your pet is getting the best possible treatment available.

  1. I recommend Dr. Weiss at Bradley Hills Animal Hospital, especially if your ferret needs surgery. He is the absolute best in that area. He performs laser surgery, which few vets have the equipment for or know how to do. Surgery with a laser is the only approach I feel comfortable with for tiny animals like ferrets.

  2. Thanks so much for letting us know about Dr Weiss, Kathy 😀
I’ve said that he’s “highly recommended by a ferret owner” – I think it’s really great that people bother to say that a vet is excellent, or not!
Hugs to your ferret/s from their friends down under 😉
    Cheers

  3. Are there any vet recommendations around Lexington Park, MD? We just recently got our second ferret and we want to get her looked at. Our older ferret needs to be looked at as well, because we are worried he is loosing weight and seems to be less playful. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  4. Hi Soren
I had a quick Google search and found one hospital in Lexington Park which says : “In addition to the traditional services, we also see and treat exotic pets, including reptiles, pocket pets, rabbits, ferrets and birds.”
I’ve added it to the list but obviously it hasn’t been recommended by anyone. If you use them and are happy with the way they treat your babies, please let me know and I can say that they are recommended 😀
One vet I have spoken to personally and who knows his ferret medicine is Jeff Rhody in Laurel. I see that Laurel is 75m away and it’s a long drive but if you want a really good ferret vet, then I would highly recommend him.
Hugs to both your babies from their new buddies down under 😀
    Cheers
    ~Nona
