Ok I live in a apartment and I have a little boy ferret named Aldo. I’m not sure how old he is but anyways. . He wandered into the kitchen and ended up underneath the dishwasher. My fiance had to break the bottom panel of it to get him out and make sure he was ok. Now since its broken he can just wonder in and out. Should I be concerned?

I want to get him a little BEW because he needs someone to explore with. We just got a little kitten so maybe he won’t be lonely. Although he has managed to escape from his cage twice now.

Oh yes … you’re absolutely right! I think silvermitts have special crazy genes – LOL!!

Mind you, I have always thought albinos were the smoochiest, most loving of all ferrets but the albino girl I have now is in the wrong coat. She should have picked up a silvermitt coat when she was born as she’s an unholy terror while my silvermitt girl is just so sweet and loving! Go figure!

I tell you … my “signature” on the forum is
“The more I know I know ferrets, the more I know I don’t know!”

They keep running circles around me, even after all these years ;D

We’ll figure something out. Her and I don’t want anything to happen to him. And Yes my little Aldo is quite the trickster. Silly Silvermitts.

OK then, I guess your main worry would be for him to squeeze into the dishwasher and somehow get stuck in a pipe or even worse, wiggle into a pipe and get stuck in a drain pipe. That would be disastrous!

You know what Houdinis ferrets are – they can squeeze into tiny spaces so I think that would be my main worry if it happened in my house.

Can’t your BF go to the hardware store and get a piece of plywood or anything else that he could fit across the bottom of the dishwasher to stop Aldo from going in and out? Maybe some canvas or perspex or something similar?

I don’t have any wood but the dishwasher actually doesn’t work at all. Never has.

Kelly, I’d be a little worried about Aldo getting stuck in the dishwasher. I don’t know how far he can get into it if he goes into the broken bit and, of course, you’d have to make sure he’s nowhere near it when it’s on.Is there no way you can put a piece of wood or something against the bottom just as a safety measure?

Get a new what? The dishwasher was broken before we got our little Aldo. I mean should I worry about him running underneath it or whatever he does …
