It absolutely sucks when a ferret gets ill and despite all the help he doesn't get better.
I lost two of mine recently to adrenal problems so know how hard it must be for you but I guess you should be glad that when he was with you, you gave him a good life and now he's at the bridge, healthy and whole again, waiting for you and Odo.
The pain of his loss will fade with time and you'll remember all the good times you had with Ajay.
Trouble is once a person is ferret owned he'll always have to go through the heartache of losing his much loved pets. It comes with the territory and never gets easier.

I am sorry to hear this. He is in a better place now - he is at the Rainbow Bridge with my ferret Bandit and others, as well having all the fun you can think of.
